Interesting run in Agfala (Agendorf), near Sopron (Hungary). Terrain mostly open and easily runnable woods, reminded me of "Wienerwald" near Wien. Time: 53:32 was enough to win H-45.
First 7 posts could be taken in any order. Happy overall, small confusion on the way from #59 to #52, but regained control after "thinking pause" :)
#8: sloppy with compass direction, but stopped by path.
#9: smart to cross deep ravine early enough before post (direct route would have been slow), but stayed too close to ravine, so had to correct to post again.
#10: ok
#11: ok until mid to post, did not understand post symbol (hunting stand), and more importantly looked for post in little valley instead of along ridge above - so misread ridge for valley :(
#12: again not good enough compass, drawn too much "down". Vegetation boundary was confusing, chased the worng post and had to climb quite a bit up to post again.
#13: ok, overran post slightly when taking off from path, but corrected quickly back.
#14: I was pretty happy with my strategy to first gain some height and then "float" across the open woords terrain checking paths along the way. Approach in towards post was solid :)
#15: another highpoint of the course. Instead of "safing" and staying on the path longer, I chose a little more diffuse path that ran below the ridge (I knew the post was behind it). Steered gently upwards and ended exactly at the antenna mast above post. Slam dunk into post :)
#16: clearly the most difficult post of the course. Choose a (probably too) risky strategy of wanting to approach post from the east following vegetation border. This border turned out to be more diffuse then I thought (in fact I ran into the thicket). Was "saved" by other runner who came down the ravine from the west. Taking that ravine down also seems risky on second thought. Perhaps I should have stared more careful at the map and realized that two ravines come together below the post. As plan B I had planned to use the fence to north-east of post, but I would probably now have actually hit it. Moral: this post was hard, and I knew it, so need to plan a "safe" strategy accordingly.
